I’m only a few days into my summer vacation and I’m already feeling overwhelmed by all the stuff I want to do. On my first day of summer I managed to clean out my dresser and put away all my clothes, ensuring that my room won’t be a giant clothes shelf all summer like it has been in years past. On Thursday, my mom, grandma, and I went nursery hopping and bought tons of flowers. We spent the rest of the day working in the yard and cutting trees. Today Brian and I went to his apartment to take measurements. It’s a good start, but that’s just the beginning. There are many, many more things that I want to do this year.
(Disclaimer: I could write a whole post about each of these things, and I might later. You’ve been warned.)
1. WEDDING.
Figure out at least the when, and then the where, so that it can happen some day. I dream big.
2. Sketchbook project.
I’m not gonna go too much into it, but I have this sketchbook, and all these architectural drawings and nothing to do with them. Think of the possibilities.
3. Take trips.
This is my last summer while I am in school. This is kind of a big deal. I think I should live it up while I still can. Nothing too ambitious. I want to visit my friends in some cool places. My first trip is going to be to my aunt’s beach house with my mom next week!
4. Read.
I always have so many books on my to-read list*, but I haven’t had time yet to figure out what I’m gonna read first. The Help is on my list, but other than that I usually determine order based on what comes in to the library first.
5. Catch up on TV.
This year, I was a major slacker in the television arena. I need to get caught up. And re-watch some things, with those who were not fortunate to view them the first time. It’s the summer of West Wing, baby. It’s gonna be big.
6. Collect recipes.
This was my last year on a meal plan. It was a hard decision. Trust me. But, after much deliberation, I’ve decided that it’s time for me to put on my big girl panties and cool for myself. My grandma gave me this cool recipe book/ scrapbook thing, so I’m looking forward to collecting recipes and putting it together.
7. Help Brian shop for his spiffy new apartment.
He is in the market for furniture, kitchen stuff, etc. It’s gonna be a lot of yard sale-ing and thrift store trips. Fun!
8. Scrapbook.
The old ball-and-chain hobby. It never ends. It’s okay, I still love it.
Obviously, I want to chill with Brian, my family, and my friends, and be the best swim coach I can be, but those go without saying, so they don’t get their own listing. Plus, I’ll probably add on to my list. And yes, I’m aware that there’s no way I’m going to do all of these things. A girl can dream, right?
*This reminds me that I got on Goodreads tonight for the first time since I signed up, and I have no friends. Lame. Also, I really have no idea how to do anything besides rate books and move them to different shelves. This could be part of the problem.
You've got a busy summer ahead of you!
I love scrapbooking, but know the ball and chain feeling. Love it, but it hangs in the back of my head all the time.
Also, I love goodreads! I added you as a friend :)
Yay! I just got on and I think I'm getting a better hang of it… I couldn't find you on my profile so I went ahead and added you just in case : )
Add me on Goodreads! I couldn't find you, I just searched your stripesandpolkadots email. Can you find me? I'm in under my lawschlwife (at) gmail email.
