sketchbook

I have this sketchbook that I’ve been working on and thinking about for a few weeks. It’s a work in progress. I’ve been trying to think of it as a constant work in progress, messy, non-linear collection of pages rather than a sketchbook where I complete a page and then move on to the next one.

I cut up some of my architectural drawings and diagrams that are on different kinds of paper and I’m planning on gluing them throughout the sketchbook to make several multi-layer collages. I’ve already glued down a few of the opaque pieces of paper onto blank pages.

I want to play with messy media and not be afraid to mess up the pages behind it. I want to glue things down and then rip them off. I want something that will change and develop and that never has be “finished.”

I’ve had trouble adhering to these ideas in the past because I always want something to be perfect, so I work on one thing until it’s done. I also used to have to turn things in for school, so I guess that was a factor as well. Whatever. I’m gonna give it a shot. It should be fun.
