Wedding Wednesday: Calligraphy

wedding

30 Mar

Whew. It’s been a long day. Rainy and cold. I overslept this morning, so I’ve been running around feeling kinda gross all day. The thing is, my first class is at 12:30. How does one oversleep for a 12:30 class, you might wonder. Well, this person slept until 11:30, leaving just enough time to heat up some oatmeal, make coffee, throw on some workout clothes and be on her merry way. Or not so merry. Either way.

I’ve been obsessing over wedding stuff. Time is dwindling, and I’m not achieving much of anything. On Monday I was feeling like I should do something, so I went to the local art shop and spent $10 on calligraphy supplies.

Best $10 purchase ever! I was inspired by this how-to post on Martha Stewart. I started with that and have then been searching the web for beautiful calligraphy for inspiration. There are so many styles! I’ve been having lots of fun.

{I’ve been written our names and initials so many times that I look like a twelve year old school girl}

I bought a Speedball pen holder, two Speedball nibs, and Higgins waterproof drawing ink in indigo. If you feel so inclined, I would give it a try. It’s lots of fun. I’m planning on incorporating the calligraphy into our invites in one way or another.

We’re already halfway to the weekend! (Or only one more day, on college time.) Yesssss!

    Oh I bought a calligraphy set a couple months ago and vowed to become good at it. Sadly…its pretty much still sitting there unused. But I will use it SOMEDAY. Good for you. Your initiative is inspiring.

    You should try it! I've been practicing in front of the TV, it's pretty mindless once you start.
