It was so wonderful to have this holiday weekend to relax. I love both my jobs but having the time off really helped me go back to work with a fresh attitude today.
Saturday night was the annual fireworks display at the club where I coach swim team. I feel like club is really not the right term even though technically it’s what it is… but it is the total opposite of pretentious and is really just made up of regular families. I grew up on the swim team and every fourth of July the club opens its doors to the community by holding a major fireworks display. It is so awesome to see so many people from the community there. I get to be there with my friends and family and I get to see a lot of my swimmers and there families. I have so many great memories of fireworks on the golf course.
This year was no exception, and one of my favorite things about the fourth of July this year was laying on a blanket on a golf course side by side with my nearest and dearest.
On Sunday Brian, my mom, and I packed the van and headed to Lexington and Charlottesville for a moving trip and wedding planning visit! We took a load of stuff to our new apartment and had a walk through with the caterer. I can’t wait to move into our apartment and set up our kitchen- we have already received so many nice things for our new place! Our walk through turned out to be more of a chat with the caterer, turns out that there was a wedding there on Sunday night! It was neat to observe but we didn’t get to go in. We got to show my mom around our new town, see one of my college bffs, and we got to eat at Mellow Mushroom, so overall the day was a great success!
The actual day of the 4th of July was very relaxed- I had the house to myself for most of the day, and then Brian and I went to his house in the afternoon. Brian’s mom made a FEAST for the holiday- ribs, baked beans, cole slaw, hamburgers and hotdogs… and chocolate pie of course. We get along well, as you can tell.
We ended the night with a private fireworks display in the backyard. I have many bug bites to show for it today, but it was cool to have our own private show!
Hope everyone had a nice 4th! How was your weekend?
