friday follow-ups

I feel like I should follow up on my post on Monday… Monday itself was an ease into it sort of day, because although I tried to cut out snacks and eat relatively healthy meals, we still had half of a carrot cake in the fridge from the night before and, well, we’re not wasteful people.  The rest of the week we did a really good job of working on portion control and cutting out snacks and dessert.  Except for yesterday when I basically whined so much about wanting chocolate that we went and got Blizzards.  Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

I mentioned on Tuesday that I was making this crockpot recipe.  It was okay.  It didn’t change my life or anything.  But it was fairly healthy and the fact that I wasn’t obsessed helped with portion control… that’s a plus I guess?

Normally trying to eat healthier would be coupled with an attempt to workout more, but since I haven’t been able to shake this bug yet that hasn’t happened.  This cough is so obnoxious.

Brian and I figured out our Halloween costumes for the party we are going to on Saturday, we went to Goodwill yesterday and everything is ready.  But I think I’m gonna keep it to myself until I post pictures on Monday!

It’s supposed to get really cold here this weekend.  Why does the temperature always seem to drop right before Halloween?

I heard this was on ABC last night, but I didn’t watch it.  Wouldn’t this poster be cute to hang in your house around Halloween?

Have a spooky weekend!

    Kate,
Congrats on your new lifestyle! I hate the word “diet”. You've made it through the first week, the hardest one, and I promise that things will be much easier. The cravings won't be as severe, trust me! I totally feel you about being frustrated with the change: when I started Nutrisystem, the first two days I full-on cried because I wanted a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte so badly. You're not alone, and you've got a bloggie cheerleader over here rooting you on! If you ever need to vent, or want to hear about some of my go-to's when I get cravings, shoot me an email! Congrats to you again for getting through the first week! You ROCK!

    i hope you feel better!

it is always hard to change your eating lifestyle. but remember to think: 'this isn't a diet. this is a lifestyle change'

once you think like that, it is easier to adapt to the changes you are making. diets never last. but once you change your lifestyle it will stick around for a while!

enjoy your weekend! can't wait to see your costume!
