I’ve been a little AWOL this week because I came up to Northern VA so that I could sub a few days here and keep my sub certification active.  I’m subbing for the same second grade class for three days in a row, which in all the time I’ve subbed I think that is the most consecutive days I’ve ever been with one class.  Mostly what I’ve learned is that I really wish I had the energy of an eight-year-old.

I wish I could plaster this inside my brain for tomorrow.  I’m so sleepy and a lot of times that means I am wishing the minutes away.  But really I would like to enjoy my time there as much as possible, because while the kids can act up (some more than others) there is also so much good in each of them.

Tomorrow is Friday!  I can’t wait.  I’m driving home on Saturday and taking pictures at a family friend’s restaurant along the way… so excited to share them once they’re done!

What have you been up to this week?  If you’re new around here, say hello! (or if you’re a regular!) I could use a pick-me-up.

Keep up the great attitude! (I don't know if I could be as patient as you are.) I can't wait to see those upcoming shots of the restaurant :D

Even though I really enjoy substitute teaching, I sometimes do find myself wishing the minutes away. That is such a true statement. And I hate it too. I'm excited you have a three day job though–awesome! :)

I'm always amazed at how much more energy my students have than me! (And they're only a year or two younger!!)

Isn't it crazy? I wish there was some way I could steal it!

I think you are all wonderfully energetic. I mean – you are teaching primary school. I work in an office and I can tell you for sure that there is not a lot of energy going around there ;)

i wish i had the energy of an 8 year old too. what i used to love about working in my 2nd grade class is that their energy can be very contagious (also at times draining…but hey). btw i love that quote! :)

Definitely! I need to work on catching their energy instead of being exhausted by it, haha.

I bet you are a wonderful substitute teacher! Did you ever teach full-time? I am starting my student teaching in 2nd grade and know I will be so exhausted this time next week!

No, I subbed all through college and I just do it to make some extra money. I like it a lot! That is so exciting- good luck next week!

Oh, the things I could do if I had the energy of an eight-year-old!! I just love that quote & graphic. I must remember to keep that in mind! I can't wait to see your pictures! I hope you have a wonderful & rejuvenating weekend!
