It’s Monday, which means it’s time for a little inspiration! This week I am talking about the design of La La Lovely, which pretty much sums it up right there: it’s simply lovely. I came across Trina’s blog while on Moxee. Bre is a fellow blog designer and one of her posts was talking about her latest design, and I just knew that it would be perfect for a Design Inspiration post!
In case you couldn’t tell from some of my last few posts, I’m really into minimalist design right now. I am loving all the white space on this design and the thin border of muted color at the top of the blog. Also, we all know how much I love the texture of paint. I like how the paint is the focus in the header, but doesn’t sprawl out all over the page. I also love the color scheme- and make sure you click over to check out some of the details, like the hover effects on the category icons.
Another thing that I really appreciate about this design is the scale. Everything seems small and carefully placed, which I really admire, especially since right now it seems like there is a trend for sites that to be really wide and take up the whole screen. I like those too, but I feel like Bre really makes the narrower width work to her advantage by making the design seem more thoughtful, and helps readers to focus on the content of the post.
