Design Inspiration: Em for Marvelous

Design Inspiration

28 Feb

Oops, I’m a little late on the Design Inspiration post this week!  I hope you’ll forgive me.  Today I am featuring the design for Em for Marvelous.  First things first: how adorable is that blog name?  I just love it!  I came across this cute blog on I Still Love You.  I’m a huge fan of Melissa’s work, and she did the calligraphy in the design.  Isn’t it perfect?

Em for Marvelous

The blog design is by Curious and Company, and I just love how clean and fresh everything looks while still being fun and a little bit whimsical.  I adore the background.  It’s simple and clean, but it’s unique and I can’t think of another blog with a background like it.  The colors are so cute and fun but sophisticated at the same time.

I think the thing that is inspiring me the most about this design is the menu bar.  It’s simple and delicate, but it looks so wonderful with the rest of the design.  I love how the icons are centered, the hover color is not super bright, and the lines on the borders are thin and not closed on the ends.  It’s just lovely!

Make sure you check out Em for Marvelous, and ISLY while you’re at it!  Both ladies are so creative!  You can read more about Em’s site here.

It’s so pretty! Love how it is both colorful and simple at the same time. The big risk with choosing a theme with lot’s of different colors is that it can end up looking messy. But this is excellent! I think the two lines in the menu bar and in the post header is what gives it a coherent impression.

I agree!  Sometimes it’s hard to come up with colors that look clean when paired together.

I love her site! The colors are clean, pretty, and fun. You’re right about the background…it’s unusual and so cute! Another great find! :)
