Anna was one of my first blog friends ever. I’m not sure how we found each other, but we quickly connected through our common interests of art and photography. Anna’s blog Moments of Libra is constantly inspiring me. She is a self-taught artist, and I knew her sketches would be wonderful before she even sent them! I love these colorful pages she sent.
What kind of sketchbook do you use? I have a cheap and small Foldermate sketchbook. I wouldn’t recommend it though, the paper quality is not so good.
What is your sketchbook’s story? Last time I was looking for a sketchbook I went for the cheapest one avaliable. I thought that, since I’m a newbie to sketching thing I should not waste to much money as long as I haven’t got a hang of the technique. Turns out I should have gone for on of the more expensive sketchbooks with thicker pages, as it’s clearly much easier to do watercolor washes on them.
What kind of media do you use in your sketchbook? I predominantly use watercolor and pencil. But I recently started to use my old oil pastels. It’s so much fun! Although it’s a little greasy, it really gives a nice saturated, rich and messy impression.
Where do you like to work in your sketchbook? Usually I work at home in the evenings after school. When I’ll have better time and the weather outside gets warmer, I’m heading to the park or my moms garden. I’m dreaming of my own little corner of my future home that will serve as a mini-studio, but for now I’m happy with my portable watercolor set.
What is the biggest inspiration for your work? I use Pinterest a lot to find new, exciting artworks that might influence my style. I also love big heavy artbooks that I borrow at the library .Most of the time I also draw my surroundings like my room or still life around me. I think it’s the best way to learn perspective and how to “see” properly when you draw.
Thank you so much, Anna! All photos are by Anna, make sure you go check out her wonderful blog! And if you have a sketchbook to share, EMAIL ME! It’s kate {at} sketchandwash {dot} com!
Thank you, Kate! It’s always so much fun to be featured! (sorry for the dark photos)
I don’t think they’re too dark- they’re beautiful, the colors are nice and rich!
