Hi readers of the super-wonderful-and-fantastic blog o’ Kate. My name is Lot and I live in downtown Amsterdam with my husband and toddler. When I’m not working or being a mother/wife I blog over at Cake Memoirs about graphics & pretty things, tutorials. offer freebies, sweet recipes and my life in Amsterdam.
So let’s talk about spring…
Here in Amsterdam the weather is generally appalling. The winters bring us cold, rain, hail, icy roads, falls off bikes. It also confronts us with grumpy & wrapped up people who don’t look before they cross the road and cause accidents (read: tourists). It seems like, as a city, we are out of sorts and are just waiting for an end to the surplus of grey and grump.
Come spring the whole city changes. People start exercising those cheek muscles by doing a combined inhalation of fresh air and smiling at the same time. We meet up with our friends outside for drinks again at one of the many terraces.
I always view spring as an opportunity for a new beginning, a fresh start. I think it’s beautifully symbolic for letting the grey behind you and starting afresh with new colour in your life. For me this spring is not going to be about great big changes, it’s about the small ones. We are going to add a fresh layer of paint to the walls of our apartment, I hope to start work on a graphics starter pack for new bloggers, and learn Adobe Illustrator (which I think won’t be easy so wish me luck).
As a reminder to seize this opportunity for fresh starts I created a bookmark that can be printed (TOU). Hope you enjoy thinking about spring.
How amazing is Lot! Her love for statistics? It makes me swoon.
And she made a bookmark? Just proof that this lady is lovely.
