Art to Inspiration: Pakayla Biehn

I felt like this painting was really perfect for this time of year.  This is page from my sketchbook is one that has built up gradually over time, and it just never really evolved into a cohesive page.  I decided to just write, and I was glad I did.  You wouldn’t believe how foreign it felt to hold a pencil in my hand!  I need to sketch and write more often. I couldn’t help but collage (in Photoshop) some of the photos I took of this tree outside our apartment this weekend- the colors were just too perfect!

This post is part of the Art to Inspiration project started by Supal of Chevrons and Eclairs.   You can find the information about the painting below.

Beautiful Kate! You’re so creative. I love how you can take something you see and turn into a concrete thing!

Thanks Brynn!  This one was fun because the two main drawings were already done, I thought they would be a good fit and just had to tie everything together!

Thanks!  Yeah, it is!  I can’t believe how hard it was just to write in my own handwriting, haha

Your sketchbook is awesome! I tried to break mine out the other day, and like you said, the pencil felt so foreign in my hand! I love how you photoshopped some gorgeous blooms onto the page, very cool.  Great take on the painting :)

Wow – this is a gorgeous interpretation – you are quite a talented lady, Kate.  I love the addition of the photos with the sketch – a nice parallel to the initial work.

This is stunning! I definitely understand, Kate. Sometimes, I have a hardtime holding a pencil like my fingers are too weak to grasp it or something. My handwriting is just atrocious during those times! I think the addition of the photoshopped personal pics is awesome! Again, your interpretations are always incredibly creative and unique!

Thanks Supal!  Today I’ve been making a concentrated effort to write notes by hand to make sure I still know how :)
