in the yard

15 May

One of my favorite things every year at the beginning of May is buying annuals with my mom and my grandma.  I just love nurseries.  On Mother’s Day we went to the nursery and bought annuals for the flower pots in our yard.  My mom is always a good sport about letting me pick out some of the combinations and this year we tried a few new ones.  I get really excited about it.

When we got back, my brother and I worked in the yard for a few hours.  I planted all the pots, and I was a happy camper.

They might not look like much yet, but I’m so excited to see how they fill up the pots as the summer goes on. I just love this time of year!

What’s your favorite flower?  I have an emotional attachment to this hydrangea in my parents’ yard.  It never seems to get any bigger, but I think that’s part of the appeal.  It’s like the little engine that could.  Hydrangeas are my favorite in general, but for the pots I love those little superbell things and the verbena, too.  Trailing flowers make me happy.

Kindred spirits! I adore hydrangeas, and my yard is full of them. Counting the days until they bloom :-)

So lovely! I'm glad to find another flower/garden enthusiast. My favorite flowers are peonies. My mom has lots of them and I adore them. Do you have any vegetables/fruits?

I love visiting nurseries and planting annuals, too! My husband and I always have fun working in our garden :) I think my faves are hydrangeas or gardenias!

So pretty! I do NOT have a green thumb. Seriously, I killed an aloe vera plant. Sad but true.

My favorite flower is hydrangea, but I cannot grow those here in Florida. So I settle for Begonias. Love the pictures!

Hey Kate! We did the same thing this past weekend. I give my mom some sort of plant/flower for Mother's Day every year because she loves to tend to her yard. This year I bought her a Mandevilla on a climbing trellis. While I was there, I bought some flowers for myself too. ;) Verbena, Lobelia and some sweet potato vine. They're now happily residing in containers on my deck.

Hope you're having a wonderful week!

So so pretty! We have no outdoor space, so I am really jealous of everyone's flower and garden posts lately! I've just managed to not kill a couple of houseplants so far.

Daffodils are my favorite, but I really love all bulbs. And I have to admit, dandelions always, always make me happy.

They look so pretty! I can't wait to have a garden one day. I think my favourite flowers are peonies, that and hydrangeas. x

This might be stupid because everyone should know how to do this, but i would have no idea where to even start! Maybe a tutorial on this one day? It just looks like the cutest thing to have at your front door!

The flowers look so great! Maybe you could come to my yard next!? ha! We are going to be adding at least one flower bed to our yard so I need to get to work sooner rather than later!

Hydrangeas are my favorite too!! I loved that they were everywhere in the town we used to live in. I can't wait until we find a more permanent home for ourselves so I can plant one!
