I wasn’t really surprised by the demographic information that I got out of this survey. I expected that most of you were on Blogger, which worries me a little moving to a self-hosted WordPress blog. You guys will follow me over there even though I won’t have GFC, right?
I was overwhelmed by how many of you said that you read the blog because of me, so I guess it makes sense that daily life posts are the crowd favorite. I was so excited that that was the clear choice, because those are by far my favorite posts to write! Friday Links are also not going anywhere, although I’m thinking about giving it a new, more original name.
I’m glad that design and blogging tips is the topic that most people want to see more of- because that’s definitely part of the plan! Posts about my daily life are also going to be a focus. As part of that, recipes and outfits will probably make occasional appearances, depending on the season and how life is going (you’ll notice that I usually have more cooking posts in the winter and more outfit posts in the summer!)
Sketchbook pages are absolutely in the works! I don’t have any DIY or craft posts on the horizon, but I’ll keep in mind that you guys are interested. I’m hoping to spruce up our apartment a little, maybe that will fall into that category!
The topics that you guys were least interested in were entertainment and guest posts and feature posts. Again, you guys kinda read my mind. I’ve decided to keep most entertainment thoughts to Twitter, and I don’t have any guest posts on my mind as of now (although when I go out of town they’re likely to make an appearance!)
As far as post frequency goes… I’ll definitely be posting at least once a day. Sometimes more, depending on if I have a lot of design projects finishing up or other time sensitive posts. My plan for now is to still do a post for a lot of the designs that I do, because sharing my process with you guys is one of my favorite parts of my job. I’ll try not to post too much, I promise!
I was so interested to see how you guys follow blogs! I was surprised that more of you don’t use Facebook, because I know that these days that’s one of my main ways. I will be using all of those ways to promote my blog except for GFC, of course- I hope those of you who use that will find other ways of following!
The part where I asked you why you read my blog was so sweet. You guys said the nicest things, and I felt so good after reading them. Thank you. Many of you pointed out exactly what it was that inspired you about my blog, but most of you just pointed out that you can relate to me and that’s what keeps you coming back. We hear it over and over again that being yourself is the best thing you can do, but somehow having you guys say it to me the way you did really helped remind me that authenticity is what this is all about. I hope that my new space will allow what makes me me shine through even more than it has here.
I also really loved seeing all the different kinds of people who filled out the survey. From my very first blog friends, to people I “met” just days ago on a variety of social platforms, all the way to my 8th grade art teacher… you guys are awesome. Thank you so much for taking the time to fill this out, and more importantly, read my blog.
I don’t have any links this week, but I’d love to hear what you’re up to this weekend! I’ll be plugging away, getting everything ready for the relaunch.
we love you too! thanks for sharing your life and work with us :)
I was hoping you'd share the results of this!! I love seeing survey results, so fun. And now for a mini-rant: I'm a self-hosted wordpress blogger and I have to confess that it is really freaking discouraging not having GFC sometimes. I believe it's a really superficial way to track readership because it doesn't speak to engagement at all or demonstrate how many people actually read your blog rather than just “follow and forget” BUT it's still hard to see other bloggers sharing their GFC numbers knowing you've been excluded from that opportunity to track and visualize followers, and I know there are lot of people who really do use that to track their subscriptions so I sometimes feel I'm missing out. I'm really happy with how I interact with my blog readers but I still wonder from time to time what my GFC count would be if I could use it. All of that said though, I don't think it will hurt you one bit to move to self-hosted and I think it's a really good decision for a lot of reasons. I hope you are cooler than me about it and don't with up with GFC envy, but I thought I would share my 2 cents! I wish Google would let us have it back. I can't wait to see your new site!
A self-hosted wordpress blog is going to bring you so many more benefits than simply having GFC on blogger- I promise! It was interesting to read the stats- someday when I have a larger audience I'd like to do one of these, too.
I'm such a geek, I LOVED this whole post. I love surveys, collecting data, and presenting it. Love. it. You presented it in the cutest way. I love your blog, and I can't wait for the changes! No worries, I follow you via Bloglovin' so I'll still be here :)

I love that you shared the results with us. Other than using Bloglovin' as my main blog reading source, my feedback seemed to be in the majority.
I have WordPress and lately I've been feeling left out from GFC. It almost makes me want to switch to Blogger. But then I snap back to reality and realize that WordPress is better and even though it lacks GFC it has so many other things going for it. With all the other subscription options out there, I'm sure people will continue to follow your blog!
