This weekend we managed to cross some local attractions off our bucket list.
In case you hadn’t figured it out by now, Foamhenge is a foam replica of Stonehenge located about 20 minutes from Lexington. Basically this guy just owned some property and decided to make it happen. Did you watch Doug as a kid? It totally seems like a stop on the Funnie Family’s trip to the Great Gorge.
The weather was beautiful and we had the whole place to ourselves, so we had fun looking around and admiring the view. The creepiest thing is definitely that Merlin statue, which a sign explains was modeled after a real guy’s face after he was already dead… true story.
But that wasn’t the only thing that we did! On Saturday night we went to the local drive-in movie theater. It was really fun! There’s a double feature every night, so it’s pretty much an all night event. We ate dinner at the concession stand and bundled up in the car as the temperature dropped and watched The Bourne Legacy and The Campaign. I would totally do it again.
What were you up to this weekend?
Oh what?! a drive in movie? That sounds so fun and romantic ;) I wish there was something like that here in St. Pete, that would be so awesome. Sounds like like you had a wonderful weekend! I tried hot yoga over the weekend, and now I’m hooked!

I’m so jealous that you went to a drive in movie! I always loved going to them as a kid, but we don’t have any around us anymore. So sad!
And that “Foamhenge” is too funny. It’s always fun to explore your town like that :)

I never got around to going to a drive-in movie this summer, but that sounds like the perfect combination of movies. I’ve been dying to see them myself. Local sightseeing really is fun!
My hubby and I have been meaning to make a trip to Foamhenge! It’s about 40 minutes away from us. Your photos have me itching to check it out in person asap =) Thanks for sharing!
It’s a pretty area, and the weather made for a fun little outing! There’s actually a zoo and several other attractions right around it, so you could totally make a day of it or just an afternoon :)
Yeah! We took a trip to the zoo in July and had a blast!! Our mid-summer weather was a bit much that day though…I think you had the right idea to go in September =)
Foamhenge?! What an interesting idea!
I’d love to go to a drive in someday. In high school we had to create a business with a business plan and everything, and mine was a drive in!
I DEFINITELY need to make a trip to Lexington for this! How neat is that?!
Do it!!!
Sounds like a fun weekend and that FoamHedge looks pretty cool.
