Virginia Vineyard with my Parents

family· places

2 Oct

My parents came to visit to celebrate my birthday a little early this weekend.  My dad had never been to Lexington, and we had a lot of fun hanging out with them and showing them around the campus and town.  On Sunday we grabbed some sandwiches and headed to a local vineyard, which is something that I’ve been meaning to do for a long time.

We went to Rockbridge Vineyard, and we pretty much had the perfect weather.  It was really fun to just sit on the deck and sip our wine during the middle of the day.  If you’re thinking about going wine tasting, I highly recommend it!  It’s a fun way to get some sunshine.

Have you been wine tasting recently?  The only other time I’d been was once in college for a friend’s birthday, and it was in February.  It was really fun, but definitely not as pretty as this time of year!

I haven’t been to a real wine tasting, but my friends and I are making plans to go to one on the beach.
This looks like such a pretty spot to sip wine during the day.

I’ve never been to this one! I’ve been to tons of wineries in VA and one of my favorites is Veritas Winery in Afton, VA!

Ooh I remember that one from back when we were looking at wedding venues! It looked beautiful in the pictures, but I’ve never been there in person!

Gorgeous photos! You’re the perfect blend of your mom and dad. :)

When I lived in Oregon, I went wine tasting a few times in Willamette Valley, which is beautiful. We also stopped at a lovely vineyard on our way out of Montreal, which I would love to re-visit (their attached restaurant was amazing!). Funnily enough, we live a mile down the road from a winery and we’ve never visited. Sometimes I think the trip is the best part about visiting vineyards, which might explain why we’re not inclined to visit this local one.

Aww, thanks Joy! I bet wine tasting on the West Coast is awesome! And I know what you mean about taking the trip :) Although I usually get a kick out of exploring out own local places!

What a fun weekend! And you look exactly like your parents. :) I love family photos.

Wine tastings are fun, though I haven’t made a vineyard trip since senior year of college. My alma mater is located about 40 minutes away from the Finger Lakes wine region, so each year a senior wine trip is planned. Let’s just say it got a little crazy!
