Bricago

Allow me to take a break from Starred this Week and indulge my sentimental side for a little bit.  You see, yesterday Brian went on his first airplane.  Ever.  All by himself.  I really wanted to be on his first flight, but he’s been wanting to visit his friend in Chicago for a long time and we just decided that this was the way to go.  And as one of my friends pointed out, now we can look forward to our first flight together!

So while Brian is off trying every pizza place in Chicago, I’m at my parents’  house hanging out and catching up with friends and family.  Oh, and playing with my new iPhone, which came on Wednesday.  It’s shaping up to be a pretty fun weekend.

How old were you when you went on your first flight?  I was eight when my family flew to visit my cousins who were living in Switzerland at the time, and I have a vivid memory of waking up on the plane in the morning to bright sunshine and a blanket of clouds underneath us.  I’ll never forget it!

(I can’t really explain Bricago to you in written words, but basically we’re weird and somehow along the way planning this trip, I coined the phrase Bricago, and that’s how we’ve been referring to this weekend ever since.)

Ooh!  And I’m on Instagram now.  Come find me, my username is @katelynbrooke88!

I don’t remember my first flight ever, but I do remember the first time I flew by myself – I was 9, and I was going to spend a week with my grandparents in New York. I was terrified but I sat next to this really lovely lady whose grown-up daughter had gone to my school, and she made me feel a lot better!

Hope Brian has a great weekend in Chicago :)

How fun for your hubby! I love to fly, my first memorable flight was from Los Angeles to Phoenix when I was in Jr. High. I had a really bad head cold and migraine. My head was so stuffed it felt like it would pop mid flight, ha ha!

Ugh, that’s the worst! I remember chewing gum like it was my job the last time I flew.

Oh my gosh – I can’t believe that was his first flight ever!!! My first flight was when I was 12 – Western Canada to Orlando – and I’ve been flying pretty regularly ever since.

I flew to Orlando when I was around that age too! I haven’t flown since high school though… I need to come up with a reason to go somewhere! :)

Hehehe – I think not flying since you were a teenager is reason enough!

That’s really cute! I love his text message to you. It’s so easy to forget the joy in little things like that.

I took my first flight my freshman year of college. We weren’t huge world travelers when I was a kid – went mostly places we could drive. I flew to LA. It was quite an experience! I was dating a guy in the Marines at the time and he told me that the scariest part was the landing and that it was 10,000 times better and smoother on a commercial plane than a military plane! That calmed my nerves, and he was right! Now I love flying.

Isn’t it? I decided to include it so that I would remember it later. I hadn’t thought about miliary versus commercial flights, but that makes sense! I haven’t flown since I was in high school, I’d like to go again soon!

aww Brian’s text is so cute! I hope he’s having a great time in Chicago! and I’m excited that your iPhone finally arrived – good grief, it seems like it took forever and a day to make it to you.

I’m pretty sure the first time I flew anywhere was when I was 8 (?) months old. my mom and my grandmother took me with them to Hong Kong to meet up with my dad when he was on shore leave [back in his Navy days]. I was put on the floor of the airplane under the seat in front, like a carry-on bag. yeah. that happened.

My first flight was when I was 11 or 12. We flew down to Orlando to visit Disney World! I’ve only flown one other time besides that, but I absolutely love it.

I’ve only flown three times, and Disney World was one of them! I like it too :)

I flew for the first time when I was 17. My best friend’s family invited me to go with them to British Columbia. It was so scary! I’m still not a fan of flying.

I can’t remember if it was actually my first flight, but the first one I remember was flying to Colorado when I was around 13. We had a ton of turbulence as we neared the Rockies and both my brother and I started vomiting at roughly the same time, sitting right next to each other… not necessarily the best memory, haha. Considering I fly all the time now, it is a little mind-boggling that Brian is only just having his first flight!

First flights are exciting! I had mine when I was 3 and my fam was moving to the States – unfortunately I barely remember that trip except I was strangely fascinated by the barf bags, haha.
