I have something a little different to share with you guys today. Some family friends of mine have put together an auction (that starts today!) to help out a part of their family that is going through something incredibly difficult. The auction would enable you to get a gorgeous, handmade quilt AND help out a family that could really use the support right now. Sounds win-win, right?
A little back story: my mom’s best friend from high school has kids that are all around the same age as the kids in my family. They live about an hour away, and we all grew up together. We went on outings, had sleepovers, exchanged Christmas presents… all sorts of fun stuff. As we got older and all got really busy with school and extracurricular activities it got more and more difficult to get together, but our families still keep in touch and I have a soft spot for those childhood memories that we share.
Well, my mom’s friend and her daughter are super talented, and when this crisis arose they felt the need to do something to help. You can read more about it here, but basically these quilts are their labor of love to support and raise money for their son, his wife, and their beautiful new daughter. All of the proceeds will go towards Kassi’s medical costs, which you can imagine are astronomical and difficult for a young family to shoulder on their own.
Even if you aren’t in the market for a quilt, I would love, love, love you to share this. This is an opportunity to really tangibly help a young family in a time that they most need it. Just like they are helping by making quilts, I’m helping by spreading the word, and I know many of you out their reading this are really excellent at that as well.
I’ve pinned this image, linking directly to the the auction site, and I plan on sharing it other places as well. You can read more about bidding on the site, but basically all you have to do is leave a comment! It’s super easy! Head over and check out the quilts, they’re pretty amazing!
[…] out these amazing quilts! And they’re not just pretty — they’re for a good cause […]
