After reading a few posts here an there about why moodboards can be helpful in the design process (like this one) I’ve decided to add them as a new introductory step when I’m working with my clients. I thought it would be fun to share them on the blog so that you guys can get a glimpse of what’s cooking over here.
This first board is for an interior designer who loves color and lots of patterns. She loves the motto “classic with a modern twist,” and has an affinity for monograms, elephants, and the color orange. I can’t wait to see where we go with her site!

I like the navy with white and pops of color! beautiful combinations!
I love moodboards! Its a great way to work with clients and helps them visualize things they would otherwise have a hard time articulating into words. Its a fun way to be collaborative from the get go. This looks like it is going to be a fun client!
I’m loving the moodboard! It’s so fun and vibrant! Can’t wait to see the final designs! :)
I love the mixture of simplicity and color in this mood board. And you can’t go wrong with orange. I’m excited to see finished site!
I’ve been toying with adding moodboards as well.
Was this more of a collaborative project or did you pull the images on your own?
Great job putting it together!
I’m liking it so far! This one was more collaborative, she sent me 3 of the images over the course of our talking about her style, which was partly what inspired me to start doing these!
I’ve since done 2 more, both also for interior designers, and neither of them sent me images directly but I got a lot of the images from trolling their Pinterest accounts. I think you can do it either way depending on how involved the client wants to be in the image selection process.
