On my Reading List

business· shopping

8 Oct

One of my goals for this year is to read more, both fiction and nonfiction.  I came away from Designer VACA with a crazy list of books that got thrown out while we were there.  I put together my list of 8 that I’m using as motivation to read faster.  They all look so good!  I coincidentally started Daring Greatly on the plane there- loving it so far!

books

1. Rework by Jason Fried || 2. Boss of You by Emira Mears + Lauren Bacon || 3. The E-Myth by Michael Gerber
4. Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg || 5. The War of Art by Steven Pressfield || 6. Daring Greatly by Brene Brown
7. The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron || 8.  The Creative Habit by Twyla Tharp

{If you’re looking for a more complete list of resources, check out this awesome post on Chipper Things!}

Since we got back I’ve watched post after post go up recapping our experience, and I’ve enjoyed every single one.  I tried to round them all up below- if you posted one and it isn’t on here, email me or leave the link in the comments and I’ll add you to the list ASAP!  Happy reading!

    Oooh, I’ve been wanting to read Sheryl Sanberg’s book for a while now! I’ll have to check out Daring Greatly, too. Thanks for the suggestions!

    I downloaded Rework from the library as soon as I got home — so good. It’s a quick read too. It said a lot of things I needed to hear/be reminded of. Basically encouraged me to stop overthinking everything and just do it haha.

    The War of Art and The Creative Habit are so good! I read them both back in college, but should probably re-read them!

    Love this list! I’m definitely going to check these out. It’s always interesting to read about business and creative processes but it helps you understand things you may not have always understood. Thanks for sharing!

    I read The Boss of You when I first started my business. It’s a great read. I try to read too, but fall asleep so easily I don’t get that far! Those look like some good ones you’ve shared

    Thanks so much for putting this together Kate – I think I may order Rework and, actually, probably most of those for my flight to London! & Thanks for including me on the links :D

    Loved ‘The Boss of You’, ‘The War of Art’, and found some helpful things in ‘The Artist’s Way’. Thanks for sharing the others. Can’t wait to read Daring Greatly! I think a million people have it on hold at our local library. *Sigh*

    Happy Wednesday!

    Rework is definitively a great read for creative people and entrepreneurs. I’m curious about the book of Sheryl Sandberg. A new thing for my Christmas list ;)

    Oh wow. I’m going to have to set aside a few hours to get to all these links as I just went to one and it lead me elsewhere and I just know I’m going to get lost! Thanks so much for putting them all together :)
