I’m cutting it down to the wire this year- I literally spent the final afternoon of 2014 putting this together. I wasn’t super excited about doing it, but I’m so glad I did it anyway. There’s just something cathartic about looking through visual reminders of the fun things that have happened the previous year.
This year isn’t the most anything- it wasn’t the worst, but it certainly hasn’t been the best. It somehow managed to bring about a lot of unexpected change and be an exercise in maintaining the status quo all at the same time. But that doesn’t mean that there weren’t plenty of joyous events that happened, so let’s go through those.
In January, I kicked off the year by introducing my updated brand and putting some habits into place that I plan on repeating in part this year. I also attended to Alt Summit later in the month (a longtime goal of mine.)
We had a tough winter this year, so February was about hunkering down and enduring a lot of snow. I finally combined my blog and website on one domain name, and Brian and I house sat for family friends for a week. I got really into green smoothies and we had a Valentine’s Day dinner party with my parents.
In March we visited family and, wait for it, had more snow. But then Spring came, so it was all good.
In April I went to a conference with my mom in Richmond and Brian and I finished Whole30 a few days after Easter.
May was the tail end of a crazy spring for my client work, but I also ran two 5ks and my brother graduated from college.
I travelled a lot in June, heading to New York and Charlottesville for two bachelorette weekends. I also published my first seasonal bucket list.
July was the month of weddings, and Brian took his second bar exam. I like this personal post from that month.
We headed to San Francisco with my family in August (where my brother got engaged!) Brian and I celebrated 10 years together and savored the last bit of summer. We also saw The Lion King for my Dad’s birthday!
In September I went to my first Nats game, we celebrated my brother’s engagement, and we had our house painted.
I turned 26 in October. I went to Cincinnati with my mom and grandmother and to Charlottesville for homecoming with Brian.
November was pretty nuts- we attended 6 Thanksgiving dinners and I ran my first ecourse. I also checked Mount Vernon off my bucket list.
December was actually fairly quiet this year all things considered. Lots of nights in and comfort food, but I think it was just what we needed.

Thanks Jenn, always glad to connect with you! Thanks for sharing, loved reading your recap! :)
I love the way you did this with the photos and short description of each month. I actually didn’t think this post was long at all, especially for an annual review! :) I just posted by review of 2014 (in a “by the numbers” format) today: http://megancstroup.blogspot.com/2015/01/by-numbers-2014.html
Your recap posts (monthly or otherwise) are almost the only ones I read. I love how you handle them! And when you put it all like this, it makes me want to sit down and put one together for our previous year! xo
Thanks Eliza! Even if you don’t blog about it, I think going through your old posts of the previous year makes you feel more accomplished about the whole thing! I probably blogged less in 2013 than I have in any other year since I started, but I went through each month to write the recaps and I felt good about it at the end. :)
