Shedding light on the scary stuff standing between you and solopreneur sanity.
Do you have an online business and feel like you’re constantly treading water, wondering how the other people you see online are pulling it off? When you think about how you spend your time or where your next client is coming from, do you feel super anxious?
Or maybe you’re someone who wants to work for themselves, but too much of what you read about it online is overwhelming. And there just aren’t enough answers out there about the important stuff.
I’ve been there, girl. And I believe that the only way to allay those fears is by learning more. That’s why I’ve created this course called In Retrospect.
Over time, I’ve received a lot of emails from blog readers or fellow entrepreneurs about running your own business. When I think about those emails and my own journey as a solopreneur, those struggles and fears almost always come down to three things:
Time, clients, and money.
My hope is that by pulling back the curtain on my entrepreneurial journey, by telling you what I’ve learned in the process, that you’ll feel a little less scared. So that you can go out and be braver, sooner, in your business.
Note: in the video, I say the course is 3 weeks long but I’ve actually decided to add a bonus week and extend it to 4! Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the course will actually span over 5 weeks, with 4 weeks of content.
In Retrospect begins Nov 10.
Week 1 (Nov 10 through Nov 14) : Time
We’ll talk about how I divide up my time among administrative / business stuff, self-promotion, and client projects. We’ll discuss the system I use for scheduling clients.
Week 2 (Nov 17 through Nov 21) : Clients
We’ll discuss where my clients come from and how I manage my client projects. I’ll share what I’ve learned about communicating with clients and setting boundaries in your business.
We’ll take the week of Nov 24 through Nov 28 off for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Week 3 (Dec 1 through Dec 5) : Money
We’ll talk about how my business has grown over time, how I collect money from clients and the tools that I use.
Week 4(Dec 8 through Dec 12) : Wildcard / Wrap-Up
The content this week will depend on the questions and feedback I’ve gotten during the previous three weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this course for exactly?
This course is for any entrepreneur who feels like they’re faking it behind the scenes of their online business, and feels like another perspective would go a long way to helping them figure out the tough stuff. Maybe you think you want to branch out as a solopreneur in the future, or maybe you’ve been running your own show for 10 years and feel like you want to hear about another way of doing things to brush up your systems. This is for you.
I run a shop or a product-based business. Will this course benefit me?
Short answer: yes. Long answer: since I primarily run a service-based business, and this course is based on my experience, my lessons learned will be through that lens. However, there’s a lot of overlap there. I know that I have learned a ton about business from people who run product-based businesses, so as long as you are open to hearing about the other side of the coin, you should still get a lot out it!
What do I get when I sign up for this course?
You’ll get access to a private WordPress site that will contain the course material, mainly in video format. You’ll also have the option to participate in a closed Facebook group where we’ll be discussing the content. The WordPress site will be up for a minimum of 3 months, so you can follow along at your own pace if necessary.
How much time should I expect to spend on the course?
I want you to be able to simply show up. I’m anticipating that you will want to spend about an hour reviewing the video / discussion content each week. This is about sharing experiences and learning through video and discussion, so it will all be about how much you want to put into contributing to the community and watching the videos- you can contribute as much or as little as you’d like.
I’m in a different time zone, should I still sign up?
Of course! You can go through the content and post on the Facebook group whenever it is convenient for you.
All you need is a device where you can log in to the site and watch videos online. If you want to participate in the Facebook group, you’ll need an active Facebook account.
What if I don’t have Facebook?
You are in no means required to participate in the Facebook group- I’ll send emails to notify you when new content is available. It’s just an opportunity to connect with like-minded people and share experiences. I think you’ll learn a lot by contributing there, but it’s not necessary.
What if I have a question during the course?
I will be regularly active in the Facebook group while the course is running, so you could post your question there, or you could always email me! After the course ends, I will keep the Facebook group open but will take a less active role. Also, I’ve left the last week open to address questions and help you shape exactly what you’re learning in the course so that you can get the most out of it.
How is payment handled?
I’m using PayPal to collect payments, and from there you can pay from your account or use a credit card if you would prefer. Since the course is under $100, I’m not offering payment plans at this time.
Will you offer refunds?
Since you can go over the material at your own pace, I won’t be offering refunds for the course.
What happens after I sign up?
Look for an email from me within 3-4 days confirming that you’ve enrolled. At that time, I’ll ask if there is alternate contact information that you would like to use. Then I’ll send out a group email as we get closer to the course start date with more information!
Meet the Girl Behind the Course
I’m a designer, developer, and collaborator, and I build WordPress websites for creative women. I started my web design business in November 2011, with only two months of coding experience under my belt. From learning as I went and through a lot of trial and error, I have learned a lot of tough lessons about running your own business. I’ve developed a history of teaching, from writing tutorials on my blog to teaching at a summer program for students, and I’m really excited to dive into this ecourse format. {Read more about me}
